Born on August 19, 1942 in Hunsur in Mysore district, Dwarakish was known for his comedy roles. In his film career, he worked in more than 100 films. He was very popular in every household because of his comic characters. He died of a heart attack on Tuesday. He was 81 years old and breathed his last in Bengaluru.

Veteran Kannada actor, producer and director Bungal Shama Rao Dwarkanath, popularly known as Dwarakish, died of a heart attack on Tuesday. He was 81 years old and breathed his last in Bengaluru.

Rajinikanth took to his Twitter handle to condole the demise of his ‘dear friend’. He described Dwarkish’s sudden demise as ‘painful’ and expressed condolences to his family. Rajinikanth wrote- “The demise of my dear long time friend Dwarkesh is very painful for me.. Starting his career as a comedian, he established himself as a big producer and director.. Pleasant memories in my mind. Coming in.. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Dwarakish, a diploma holder in mechanical engineering, made his debut in tinsel town by co-producing “Mamtheya Bandhan” under the banner of Thunga Pictures in 1966. However, he rose to fame as a producer after he appreciated the lead roles of Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar and Bharathi in his film “Mayor Muthanna”.
